GLIOBREAK - An EU funded project
European Innovation Council

The European Innovation Council (EIC) was created by the European Commission to help bring bold, high‑risk technologies with major potential impact to market across the European Union. It became fully operational in March 2021 under the Horizon Europe program and now operates within the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA). Its mission is to support researchers, start‑ups, and small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs) by offering funding, networking and collaboration opportunities, as well as business acceleration services. The EIC backs innovation at every stage—from early scientific research and proof‑of‑concept work to technology transfer, investment, and the scaling of younger companies.
The EIC Fund supports game-changing innovation in three separate funding opportunities based on the technology readiness level (TRL) of the project:
EIC Pathfinder, supporting early-stage development up to proof of concept (TRL 1 to 4)
EIC Transition, supporting validation and demonstration of new innovations (TRL 4 to 6)
EIC Accelerator, supporting further development (from TRL 5 to market deployment)
The EIC Transition 2025 program was the most competitive call to date with 611 proposal submitted. The GLIOBREAK project was one of the 40 selected for funding.
